Movie special effects have come a long way since characters first started transforming into monstrous creatures onscreen. The impending release this weekend of “The Wolfman,” starring Benicio del Toro as the character that was originated by Lon Chaney Jr. in 1941, inspired today’s Top 10 list by Scene-Stealers contributor Trevan McGee.
Is it surprising that two David Cronenberg movies made the list? Not to me. Anyway, here it is–enjoy Trevan’s list of the Top 10 Onscreen Transformations. If you have a Top 10 list of your own to contribute, email me at eric@scene-stealers.com.
Here’s Monty Python’s own Eric Idle answering a few web comments and questions while backstage at The Ricardo Montalban Theatre last Fall.
Adapted from the Franco-Belgian comic of the same name comes the new French action-thriller Les aventures extraordinaires d’Adèle Blanc-Sec from director Luc Besson. The film follows a young writer (Louise Bourgoin) investigating the mysterious mystical underworld of early 20th Century Paris. No telling when this will make to our side of the Atlantic, but based on this short look I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for it.

Thanks to Simon for shooting this addictive little game our way. In Furious Moles the object is to stop the moles (my favorite of which is clad in bunny ears) from their moaning by bribing them with ice cream or covering them with boxes, pails, and flower pots. Give it a try.

Two questions: First, did you see the Super Bowl spot for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender? (If not check out the video, I’ll wait) And second, did you see the clue to the film’s big twist ending? Hmmm?
If you would rather stay in the dark that’s all and good, enjoy the trailer, but if you’re ready to man-up the spoiler will be revealed after the jump.

I do love me some Wendy’s, and it’s good to know I’m not the only one. Thanks Google Reviews.

I thought most of the Super Bowl ads were disappointing, but I kinda liked the Google ad. I’m sure this will become a thing, but here’s the first parody…
Last week, we started a new feature here at Scene-Stealers called Overlooked Movie Monday. The inaugural post was an appreciation of a little-seen 1999 movie called “Detroit Rock City,” which most people seemed to write off as a cheap teenage comedy. Phil Fava contends that it’s a fun and authentic tribute to friendship and shared experiences.
This week, I took a long, hard look (emphasis on the long) at “Starship Troopers,” a misunderstood satire of the original source novel by director Paul Verhoeven. At first glance, the film may seem like a cheesy 90210 in space, but that’s on purpose. There is a lot more going on than dazzling special effects. Don’t believe me? Read my long-winded tirade on the messy parodic masterpiece that is”Starship Troopers.”
For those of you who might have missed it here’s the uncut video of Jon Stewart sitting down and talk with Bill O’Reilly.
