The Jam - A Town Called Malice
posted by  .alphamonkey. on September 30th, 2005

Wow, it’s just been a week of music videos ain’t it?  Guess that means Madison Avenue aint’ doing their job with the goofy/funny/weird/good commercials.  Way to drop the ball, M.A.

While we’re at it, let’s jump back into the wayback machine for a longing look at the joy that was Peter Weller’s The Jam and their insanely catchy number, A Town Called Malice

Now THAT’S off-roading…

I’m guessing this is just another truck ad (Toyota would be my guess), but it’s a very effective visual.  Dig it.

Asian Kung Fu Generation
posted by  .alphamonkey. on September 30th, 2005

As some of you might have guessed, I have a keen and intense love of Japanese pop music.  While normally I enjoy just how distinct the music is from standard Western fare, I also get a kick out of seeing direct translations of current music styles.

This video has a distinctly Japanese look to it, but the music sounds like it could be played on the radio right now.

Sadly, I have no info on the band (nor even it’s name).  Help, anyone?

The Art of Bleeding.
posted by  .alphamonkey. on September 30th, 2005

So what happens when you take a Burlesque show, performance art, and Cacophony Symphony influences then shove them in a blender with a PSA?

You get The Art of Bleeding.  Take a gander at the introduction film…

Wow.

As I said, there’s some burlesque elements, so it’s minorly NSFW, but be sure to check out all the various sections of the site.

The I/O Brush
posted by  .alphamonkey. on September 30th, 2005

The I/O brush is a drawing tool that can recreate colors, textures and movements just by touching a surface with the brush and then using it to paint that texture/surface/movement on a modified tablet screen.

Kick-ass!

When not coming up with new forms of robotics (which will all result in our demise), the fine minds at M.I.T. come up with some pretty bitchin’ toys.

Erik Estrada’s Life in Hell
posted by  Aymans_cat on September 30th, 2005

When the CHIPs fall where they may, they land at a turkey conference.  If you didn’t think Erik Estrada was a good actor on 80’s TV, you’ll change your mind when you see six pages of him hugging for cash.

1 Painting Every Day
posted by  gnawmunch on September 30th, 2005

Jeremiah Palecek has a blog that somewhat defies description.  His imagery is so varied, yet executed with a technical ability that many strive for.

Jeremiah Palecek has been working on this blog for the last 4 months.  His imagery is somewhere in between pop-art, and his dreams.  I really love seeing what will be updated daily, and honestly cannot pigeon-hole his work into any one certain genre.
