Internet Sausage: Monday Mehs
posted by  .alphamonkey. on April 28th, 2008

The Telegraph lists their 50 Best Cult Books - What? No Judy Blume?

This has already started hitting the US newswire but - Austrian man hid his daughter in the cellar for 24 years, fathering seven children with her. - There is nowhere near enough WTF in the world to cover this.

11 Signs You’re No Longer a Hard-Core Gamer - My own list would have to include ‘haven’t finished Twilight Princess or Super Mario Galaxy yet’.

Volkswagen’s 70MPG Diesel Hybrid - Aw, man.. Diesel? Still, not a bad looking car.

All about Starcade - I’ll confess I have no memory of this show, but pitting celebrities against video games? Brilliant! I mean c’mon, all the fun of watching someone else play video games, but with the added bonus of never getting a turn? How could that fail?

Chivalry is Not Dead
posted by  .alphamonkey. on April 28th, 2008

No, no..it’s certainly not dead. Gravely wounded, maybe. Though this man’s efforts at picking up the ladies aren’t doing much for the cause. NSFW audio.

Anyone care to enlighten me as to what show this is from? And why ‘fuck’ isn’t bleeped but ‘pussy’ is?

Watch ‘How Not to Pick Up Women‘.

Update: Thanks to a tip from Florian, I believe I’ve tracked the point of origin down: Snuff Box, which makes the actors Matt Berry (the not-so-chivalrous one) and Rich Fulcher (the dim one).

This clip is a compilation of the various times this bit has been used via the rather surreal sketch show.

Oh, he’ll bring change, alright….

Cobra CampaignInvincible Super Blog wants you to know there is a candidate of change. And he deserves your vote.

After all, think of the stop-loss measures this guy can roll out: Instead of soldiers boo-hoo’ing until they go home, we get an army of super-soldiers built from the DNA of Alexander the Great, Ghengis Khan, and motherfucking STORM SHADOW.

There are times when I wonder if Ol’ Bones McCoy wasn’t in fact the spiritual ancestor of Professor Zoidberg.

Internet Sausage - Squishy Bits
posted by  .alphamonkey. on April 25th, 2008

Internet SausageThe fairly comprehensive list of [X] Does it With [Z] statements. - I’m trying to imagine the car that has every one of these as a bumper sticker.

An interesting look at how (and why) our squishy bits got the way they are - Science is sexxxy as hell.

On the other side of the equation: Penis theft panic hits city - I find it strange we live in a world where city officials have to deal with this kind of thing.

Violet Blue Interviews pron star Lorelei Lee about the differences between sex work and sex not-for-work - Not discussed: The difference between Ron Jeremy and a bipedal hedgehog.

Belgium shows the world they don’t need VanDamme to kick ass - 1,500 Belgian students set the world record for Diet Coke/Mentos explosions.

Apparently it took a semester to figure out what most of us could have guessed - YouTube sucks as a classroom.

Compulse
posted by  .alphamonkey. on April 25th, 2008

CompulseHere’s a nice and relaxing timewaster for your Friday afternoon fun: Compulse is a motion physics game that asks nothing more of you than to get your ball to the exit via a combination of directional pushers. Of course, it’s rarely as simply as that as each level has a ‘par’ and ‘pro’ level of pushers to aim for.

Neat stuff, and waaaaaay more engrossing than you think.

R.E.M. - Hollow Man
posted by  .alphamonkey. on April 24th, 2008

REM - Hollow ManCrush Inc. directed this gorgeous clip for R.E.M.’s latest single ‘Hollow Man’, and while my first impression was that it’s just waaaay to busy visually, the more I watch it (and listen to the tune) the more it makes sense as a style choice.

Cool visuals all around, though.
