winchester26abigAre you desperate for a holiday? Maybe summer passed you by and there simply wasn’t time to take off for a few days. Or maybe financially you weren’t able to do your usual big trip for the summer. Well, don’t fret because I have a wonderful holiday idea for you: Hampshire. There are quite a few reasons why Hampshire could be your perfect holiday destination, so you may want to start browsing for a nice holiday cottage in Hampshire to get inspired for your next trip! Here are my top 3 reasons to pack your bags and head to Hampshire:

1. Proximity to London
Hampshire is a delightful county rich in history, but one of Hampshire’s biggest charms is the fact it’s only 50 miles from London making it a great option for a weekend trip from London. If you’re not based in London, that means you can easily fly into London’s airport which is a major national and international hub, and rent a car and find yourself in the relaxing county of Hampshire within hours!

2. Ample History to Enjoy
Hampshire is rich in naval history and is home to the wonderful Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. This is a great attraction for the entire family and you may find that an entire day is not long enough to see all the highlights of this fun attraction. Recently the Mary Rose museum has been added, which means there’s even more to see. If you’re wanting something a little different, Mottisfont Abbey is a beautiful property set on a very large estate, with ample walking areas and gardens. It’s perfect for the whole family, especially if you pack a picnic. Inside the house you’ll see a lot of interesting memorabilia from a time that feels long gone. There’s also a cafe and restaurant if you’re wanting a beautiful setting for an easy lunch. The volunteers are especially knowledgeable and enthusiastic, only enhancing this beautiful property!

3. Paultons Park: If you’re traveling with youngsters, or those who are young at heart, then this is somewhere you can’t leave of your Hampshire bucket list. What may surprise you about this particular park is that it caters very well to younger kids, who are only a few years old. If your children are Pepper Pig fans they’ll be delighted to visit Pepper Pig World. There’s also a really engaging dinosaur area that will please any budding Paleontologist! Be warned queues can build up easily during holidays and weekends, so try to get in early to beat the crowds.

Whatever your reasons for visiting Hampshire, I’m sure you’ll fall in love with the rich history that this beautiful area has to offer.
