Whether you go on holiday every year, or you’ve been planning to go for years, one of the hardest parts can be deciding where to go. Sure, it’s a great problem to have, but the world is a big place, and what happens if you arrive and realise that you’ve chosen poorly?

Many people continue to visit the same destination year after year. If you find a great country where you have an amazing time, feel comfortable and look forward to visiting, it’s easy to see how you can fall into a trap of returning to the same place, even when you promise yourself that you’ll try somewhere new next time.

So how do you narrow down so may potential destinations? Sometimes it’s a matter of branching out and opening yourself up to new possibilities.

Unless you have a strong gut feeling about a place, and have been wanting to visit for a long time, or a friend or family member has recommended that you visit, it can be easy to end up with an overload of information. With so many travel blogs and websites, magazines, it can be hard to choose one destination over another.

It’s a good idea to take some time to think about what kind of trip you feel like. Some of this will come down to your personal style of travel- whether you don’t mind roughing it or if you prefer to travel in luxury. If you’re someone who likes to relax and recharge from a stressful job, some time at a resort may sound like just what you need, while someone who likes to spend their holiday on the go could prefer a city break with a full itinerary.

Foodies may want to go to a destination which has a cuisine they love, while those on a budget may prefer a destination in Southeast Asia over one in Europe. If you’d like to practice your Spanish, you can’t go wrong with Central or South America, while Europe has enough architecture and history for even the fussiest traveler.

If you’re looking for some great ideas, My Voucher Codes recently created a travel app which can help you find the perfect holiday destination (or at least offer you some ideas you may not have thought of). The quiz is called “My Perfect Holiday Generator” and you’ll find it at http://www.myperfectholiday.co.uk.

This article can give you more information on the quiz, which asks a few key questions which aim to narrow down your options based on the way you like to travel. You’ll enter information about the temperature you prefer, the type of vacation you’d like to have (whether you want to be active, relax, or party), and what your budget is for the trip. The quiz covers destinations from all over the world, and founder of My Voucher Codes, Mark Pearson says that the perfect holiday generator is designed to give users inspiration in order to help them find their dream holiday and create wonderful memories.
