Travelling by train is one of the best ways to travel around Europe, the trains are world class, you can travel across the continent, it’s relaxing and super scenic too. Not only that it’s super easy to book to with Railbookers bespoke train holidays. To make your train travel holiday as enjoyable as possible then use these top tips for your next train holiday.

1. Pack a non-electronic book.

In the chance you can’t find a power outlet, then it’s always good to have some back up reading material. You don’t want to be stuck on a long journey with nothing to do or read. In fact even add a puzzle or crossword book in there too.

2. Pack some yummy snacks.

Whilst you can buy food on most of the trains, it’s always handy to have some extra snacks on hand, incase you don’t like the train food or just want to have a nibble. Fruit is always nice if you want to have something a little healthier or sometimes it’s nice to have a few treats. Maybe some chocolate you picked up in Belgium, or some cheese from France. You can have your very own gourmet picnic on board if you want too.

3. Pack some headphones and music

Not only is it nice and soothing to listen to your favourite tunes, but the headphones also come in handy to drown out any unwanted sounds. I’m thinking screaming children or babies here. It also helps if you want some alone time and avoid small talk with strangers.

4. Have your camera ready

The scenery in the European countryside is just stunning, so you’ll want to make sure you have your camera handy. Pack a spare battery too, if it’s a long journey.

5. Have your toiletries on hand

If it’s a long journey then having toiletries on hand to freshen up will make your journey all the more comfortable. Pack some babies wipes to freshen the face, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste.

6. Spare change of clothes

If it’s an overnight train, or a full day, it’s nice to have a change of clothes if you want to freshen up. Plus it’s quite the common occurrence to spill drink or food down you if you aren’t used to eating and drinking in a moving object.t

7. Pack something warm to pull over

Air con can end up being turned up a little too much, so have something warm you can chuck on if it get’s a bit cold in the cabin. A cardigan, or light jumper should do the trick.
