Work isn’t always easy: there are deadlines to meet, clients to impress, colleagues to contend with and sometimes it can feel as soon as one task is completed there’s another to tackle. I often find myself hanging out for Friday and by the time it rolls around all I want to do is spend my weekend at home chilling, watching Netflix and only leaving the house to get food supplies. Sounds sad, doesn’t it? And the truth it is! But recently I noticed I was dreading Mondays so decided to make a list of top tips for relaxing after a hard week of work, so I could start the next week with enthusiasm and energy. Read on to learn more:

1. Hit Up the Spa
Is there anything better than that walking-on-air feeling you get after an incredible massage? I’m not sure. When I’m feeling really stressed my shoulders knot up and my back aches. It affects everything from my posture to my mood. Getting a massage is a great way to relax, refresh myself and reset my energy levels. Maybe a single massage wont be enough with the amount of stress you’re carrying around, so consider visiting a spa hotel in Yorkshire for a whole weekend of pampering.

2. Meditate
Meditation is one of those things I know I should do more often, but I find it hard to make time for. Whenever I set aside 5 or 10 minutes a day to meditate, I literally can feel my stress levels melt away and I know that I also handle stress levels for the following few days much better. If you haven’t tried to meditate before, it can be quite challenging to get started. Check out the phone app Headspace for an easy introduction into meditation.
3. Go to the Gym
There’s nothing better for mood than endorphins and going to the gym is a cheap and healthy way to get those feel good endorphins pumping, while taking care of your body. Experiment to see which exercises give you the best results: personally I prefer weight lifting over cardio, but you will need to try a few things out to see which is best for you.

4. Hanging Out with Good Friends
Catch up over a glass of wine or a coffee and chat about the week just gone. Sometimes there’s nothing better than a gossip with a friend to clear your mind and make you feel reset. One of the biggest predictors in life is the number of close friendship connections you have, so spend a little time this weekend investing in them.

5. Get Outside
Going for a walk in nature is a great way to refresh your mind. The fresh air is great as it’s good for your body and makes you feel rejuvenated. Try to go somewhere with lots of plants and trees if you can.
