Taking a vacation to Orlando? While you’ve probably considered visiting the DisneyWorld, this city has plenty more to offer. If you’ll be visiting for more than a few days, your best bet is probably to rent a car in the airport and return it at the same place so you can see as much as possible and won’t need to figure out the public transport system.

Here are the best things to do when taking a vacation in Orlando:

Visit the nature preserve

The Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve is the perfect place to relax and take in some of Florida’s natural scenery. You can escape the massive crowds and the intense afternoon sun to walk under the shade of the trees and enjoy peaceful views of the lake. There are six different trails to choose from, ranging from half a mile to several miles long, and are perfect whether you’re looking for a short stroll or a long nature outing. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, bobcats, and gopher tortoises.

Head to Legoland

This theme park is completely dedicated to the building blocks we all know and love. It’s good for both adults and kids, and you can even choose to stay the night. This is the perfect option if your kids are too young to ride the massive rollercoasters in Universal Studios. Sure, there are some big coasters here, but most are on the smaller side.

Keep in mind that Legoland is approximately 45 minutes from Orlando, so it’s definitely a good idea to rent a car in Orlando for this one.

Check out Discovery Cove

Discovery Cove is Owned by SeaWorld, and if you choose the all-inclusive day pass, you can enjoy 14 days of admission to SeaWorld. This isn’t your typical theme park. Discovery Cove is an immersive experience, allowing you to snorkel with exotic fish, swim with dolphins, and even food some of the tropical birds. You’ll be able to truly get up close to nature. Want to go swimming? Relax in the beachfront bay and float in the soothing river. Whether you like the idea of getting active and enjoying the many activities or you just want to chill, Discovery Cove has something for everyone.

Get up High

If you want to get a good look at the Orlando skyline, ICON Orlando is the way to do it. This observation wheel is 400-feet high and can be found in the I-Drive resort area. It’s more than just a Ferris wheel, offering 30 air-conditioned (and fully enclosed) capsules which give you 360-degree views of Orlando. This is a fun activity both during the day and at night.

Learn about the Titanic

Whether you’re a history buff or you simply loved the movie, This exhibit is an excellent day out. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition features full-scale replicas of different areas of the ship, seventeen galleries, and even a piece of the real ship’s hull. Every Friday and Saturday night, the museum has a Titanic Gala Dinner. If you happen to visit on April 14th, you’ll be able to tour the museum, enjoy one of the dinners off the menu, and re-enact the events of the night.

Check out Forever Florida

This is an incredible experience for the whole family. You’ll find it in the middle of the wilderness, and you can enjoy numerous activities, including a massive zip lining adventure, horseback trail, and camping. While this is the perfect way to get outdoors with the family, it’s best for older kids and especially teens.
