If you own your own home, chances are at some point you’re going to want to make some upgrades. Whether you’re planning to sell or just want to live somewhere that’s a little more modern, home improvements can be a great way to transform your home, increase the value and repair any issues that have developed. If you’re trying to think of where to start, here are my suggestions for three home improvements that will transform your home:

1. Solar Power
Solar power is one of those things that can be quite a big financial investment, but will pay off over and over. When you look at your monthly expenses, chances are that your electricity costs are pretty high up there. Imagine if you didn’t have to pay any more power bills? It would be pretty amazing right. Investing in solar power is not only good for your bank balance, but it’s also great for the environment. Solar power is such a clean type of energy so you can feel good about helping yourself and also helping our planet. You can install an entire solar power system, or even something smaller like a Solar powered pool heater to cut costs.

2. Don’t Neglect Your Garage
Many people think of their garage as their dumping ground for all the things they no longer use, but the truth is a garage can be a place that you enjoy being, that has some fun things inside like a pool table, or some of your favourite things stored inside. There’s a huge movement at the moment about tidying up and how it can benefit all aspects of your life if you clean out your home and only have things you use and need inside. This is true for the garage too – I suggest taking a good hard look at your garage at least once a year to see if there’s anything you can clear out to make more space. Many people use their garage for more than just storage, and if you’re trying to think of ways your garage could be useful for you, why not consider investing in a home gym in your garage? 3. Your Kitchen
For me the kitchen is the centre of the home – it’s where you make food to nourish yourself and your family, it’s where the kids run in to load up on energy after a long day at school and it’s where you may eat many of your meals together as a family. As such, having a nice kitchen can make a world of difference in terms of how much you enjoy cooking, how well you can cook and how comfortable you are when sharing a meal with your family. The type of improvements you’ll want to make in your kitchen will depend greatly based on what your budget is or how old your kitchen is, but if you have space I suggest adding an island to your kitchen. It’s the easiest way to transform the feel of a kitchen and turn it into a more social hub in the home.
