4 Tips for Great Dental Health

Teeth are so important and having your natural teeth as long as you can is a really big investment in your own health. Dentures, dental implants, and other alternatives are expensive, require a lot of maintenance, and at the end of the day just do not compare to natural, healthy teeth. As you get older, your teeth get worn down from daily use and the acidity in your mouth. It’s so important to maintain good dental hygiene to ensure that you have your teeth as long as possible. Here are my top 4 tips for great dental health.

1. Brush Regularly
I personally prefer to brush my teeth after each main meal – which usually means brushing my teeth at least three times a day. I just enjoy how clean my teeth feel when I’ve washed them and I also like knowing that I’m not walking around with sugar eroding my teeth. If you want to brush your teeth at least three times a day, then it can be a good idea to buy a small travel tooth brush for your mid day brushing so that if you’re at work or college you can easily keep up the habit.

2. Go to the Dentist
Many people fear the dentist, and I’m not really sure why. I think it’s one of those situations where the longer you leave it between visits, the more likely you are to have a problem and the more you’re going to have to spend. I suggest visiting the dentist at least every six months, and while you’re there it’s important to get a professional cleaning. No matter how hard you brush your teeth at home, nothing you will do can compare to a professional clean in the dentist. Yes, it can be expensive getting your teeth professionally cleaned, but it’s a lot more expensive having to have dentures made. 3. Floss
This is something you’ve probably heard you need to do, but do you actually do it? Flossing is really important as brushing your teeth only really cleans the front, back and tops of your teeth. There’s so much surface area that is spread out between your teeth and flossing is really the only way to get this part clean. I personally find traditional floss a lot of work, so I’ve started using a waterpik. This is essentially a water flosser – it’s an electrical product that squirts a steady stream of water in a fine point, meaning that you can easily remove any debris between your teeth without much struggle. There are a variety of waterpiks available on the market, ensuring that you can choose one that meets your budget.

4. Don’t Just Think About You
Dental health is important for everyone in the family, including your favourite furry friends. If you have any dogs in your home, you’re going to want to invest in some Wonder Chews so that they can clean their teeth and have something to do when you’re busy working. It’s important to remember all of your family members need their teeth to be taken care of.
