Think of Las Vegas and you are likely to have visuals of tall buildings, glittering lights, casinos, and of course, pretty damsels, all of which conjure to lend a sort of mystic aura to the city. That isn’t an exaggeration either, for the glitz and glam is indeed an inseparable part of the city.

But then, that is just a part of the story as beyond the bright neon lights and the Strip in South Las Vegas Boulevard that has some of the largest concentration of hotels, resorts and casinos in the world, there is a lot more to see and savour in the city than just gambling. And that includes your entire family as well as there are lots to appeal to the kids too.

Here are just some of the things you can do when in Las Vegas that has also come to be known as the Sin City as well.

Go hiking:

Not many might know but Las Vegas offers some spectacular hiking destinations which is sure to appeal to the nature lovers. From tall mountain ranges done up in amazing shades to lush pine forests, breath-taking mountain falls to sparkling lakes, deserts to places which seems to bear testimony of a rich historical past, Las Vegas seems to have it all.

Many of the hiking trails will let you get back to the city within the same day itself. The trip will let you visit diverse places which include the chance to feel the mountains, the hot springs, forest, rivers and so on, all in their raw glory. There also are the ancient petroglyphs on the rock faces in canyon, the credit for which goes to the Mohave and Paiute tribes and points to the rich cultural heritage of the place.

Also, there is no dearth of organisations or travel agencies that can organise the trip for you and will provide you with all the assistance you need for you to have a safe andpleasurable experience. That is not all as you can have hiking options to suit almost all budget types as well.

Faith travel and historic destinations:

Contrary to popular belief, Las Vegas also has a lot to offer to those with a spiritual bent of mind. Take for instance the Old Las Vegas Mormon State Historic Park which happens to be the first permanent structure built by non-natives, the Mormon missionaries. That was way back in 1855 and the Old Mormon Fort carries the heritage of an era long gone by.

Similarly, there is the Guardian Angel Cathedral which is world famous for its stained glass windows and a very colourful image of Jesus Christ. The church can also be reached by a monorail which in itself is quite exciting. Then there also is the Brahma shrine as well that plays host to the four faced Hindudeity, Lord Brahma. The shrine meanwhile is the exact replica of the Buddhist Shrine in Thailand and is thronged by people often seeking wealth and fortune.

These apart, The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints Las Vegas Temple or the Roman Catholic Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer are also placesof great interest. It is not only Christians, but people of all faith visit these places almost all year round.

Best kid-friendly places in Las Vegas:

Las Vegas has a lot to offer kids as well, which means it can be the perfect getaway destination for the entire family. Be it the Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving where the kids will be floating above a wind tunnel or getting 550-feet above the ground on the High Roller Observation wheel, this is all about super fun.

Then there is the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. which is an entire museum dedicated entirely to the Marvel superheroes while the Neon Museum will let kids get to know all about the city’s casino history. Other places kids will love to be at including The Adventuresome, the Ethel M Chocolate Factory, Downtown Container Park, Madame Tussauds, Discovery Children’s Museum, Slotzilla etc.

Gambling:

Last but not the least, and one of the reasons the place earned notoriety as the Sin City, gambling. For that, there are almost innumerable casinos most of which are located along the Las Vegas Strip, a 4.2 mile long stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard. Here, you can make or break your account depending on whether Lady Luck is on your side or otherwise.

That said, you can also try your luck with online such as Casino and Bingo which can be played right off of your mobile itself and is quite safe too. Who knows, you might end up earning some real cash as well in the process.

So, the next time you are in Las Vegas, make it a point to visit as many places as you are able to.
