If you’ve battled with hair loss or hair thinning, you know how much it can impact your confidence. Maybe you’re tired of shaving your head to get rid of the patchiness, or perhaps you’re becoming concerned with your receding hair line. The good news is technology has finally caught up with us and now you can easily get a hair transplant in order to get the full head of hair you’ve been longing for.

How Do Hair Transplants Work
Healthy hair follicles are taken from donor areas and using small surgical techniques are implanted in areas where the follicles are no longer active. As it is a form of surgery, it is generally performed in the same setting you’d expect from any operation to minimise the risk of infection. Each hair transplant procedure will be customised to their client and their specific needs. Hair will be taken from another site on the client, such as the nape of their neck, and transplanted one by one to the site of hair loss.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Hair Transplant
In general hair transplants aren’t performed on people under the age of 18, and in most situations the surgeon will want to wait a little longer to see the full extent of the hair loss before starting. In order to be a good candidate, you also have to have enough hair to act as a donor, but this is something best discussed with the doctor.

How Long Does Recovery Take?
The main benefit of a hair transplant is that it is a permanent procedure with results lasting a long time. For the average person, you’ll need a few days to rest and recover after the procedure, but you should be able to resume normal activity 3-5 days after getting your transplant. You may have a bandage on top of the transplant, so it may be better to schedule your transplant during your annual holidays if you don’t want your colleagues to know you’re having the procedure done. About a month after the procedure, you may notice that the transplanted hair begins to fall out. Don’t worry, this is a normal part of the healing process. Around six months later new hair will begin to grow, and within about 12-18 months you should be able to see the full extent of the hair growth.

Hair transplants are a relatively affordable and quick procedure that can transform your confidence and have lasting results. Many offices offer free consults so you can learn more about what options are available to you without having to commit to the full fee.
